【摘要】:ThistestmethoddescribesanEPRtestmethodforquantitativelydeterminingtherelativedegreeofsensitizationinAISIType304and304Lstainlesssteels.TheEPRtesthasfoundwideuseasameanstoprovideanumericallevelofsensitizationinstudiesoftheeffectsofsensitizationonintergranularcorrosionandintergranularstresscorrosioncrackingbehavior.Theresultsofthistestmethodcorrelatewithothertestmethods(forexample,PracticesA262andTestMethodsG28)thatarecommonlyusedtoassesssensitizationinstainlesssteels.TheEPRtestcanalsobeusedforproductacceptance,serviceevaluation,regulatorystatutes,andmanufacturingcontrolsprovidingthatboththesupplieranduserhaveagreeduponappropriateacceptancecriteriaandasensitizingtreatment.Thetestisnotintendedfordesignpurposessincethetestconditionsacceleratecorrosioninamannerthatdoesnotsimulateanyactualserviceenvironment.TheEPRtestinvolvesthemeasurementoftheamountofchargeresultingfromthecorrosionofthechromium-depletedregionssurroundingtheprecipitatedchromiumcarbideparticles.Mostoftheseparticlesinasensitizedmicrostructurearelocatedatthegrainboundaries.However,discreteparticleslocatedwithingrains(referredtoasintragranularprecipitates)willalsocontributetothetotalmeasuredcharge.(SeeFig.2.)Therefore,itisimportanttoexaminethealloymicrostructurefollowinganEPRtesttodeterminetherelativeproportionofcorrosionsitesassociatedwithintergranularversusintragranularprecipitates.SitesofintergranularattackwillappearsimilartograinboundaryditchingasdefinedinPracticeAofPracticesA262.Note8212;ThecalculationofPaisbasedontheassumptionsillustratedatleft.Mildcasesofsensitizationusuallyresultinacombinationofintergranularattackandpittingasillustratedatright(7).FIG.2SchematicMicrostructuresAfterEPRTesting1.1Thistestmethodcoversalaboratoryprocedureforconductinganelectrochemicalreactivation(EPR)testonAISIType304and304L(UNSNo.S30400andS30403,respectively)stainlesssteels.Thistestmethodcanprovideanondestructivemeansofquantifyingthedegreeofsensitizationinthesesteels(1,2,3).Thistestmethodhasfoundwideacceptanceinstudiesoftheeffectsofsensitizationonintergranularcorrosionandintergranularstresscorrosioncrackingbehavior(seeTerminologyG15).TheEPRtechniquehasbeensuccessfullyusedtoevaluateotherstainlesssteelsandnickelbasealloys(4),butthetestconditionsandevaluationcriteriausedweremodifiedineachcasefromthosecitedinthistestmethod.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
